I was walking along a path today

Densely wooded and dark

The suns rays pierced the trees, like the fingers of God stroking his creation.

The path came to an abrupt end

The body of an ancient tree lay strewn across it.

Moss and dirt covered her like a sheet covering the murder of Mother Nature

The murder of a soul

I stood and wept over this loss of life

Crying for a friend now gone.
